Established in 1914 and affiliated with the ARRL since 1930, the Portland Amateur Wireless Association has the distinction of being the oldest Amateur Radio club in Maine as well as having been ARRL affiliated longer than any Amateur Radio club in Maine. We are a general interest Amateur Radio club, our members are active in the many aspects of Amateur Radio. We offer many services to our members and the community. Member services include: a monthly newsletter, an “Elmers Bureau” (help for new hams), entry level and advanced Amateur Radio classes and Amateur Radio testing. In the past PAWA has provided communications for many community events in the Southern Maine area and many PAWA members are involved in emergency communications in Southern Maine.
For newly licensed Hams, the PAWA offers a free calendar year associate membership.
Membership and meetings are open to anyone who is interested in radio communications.
